  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 0.75 tsp vanilla extract

  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.75 cup hot water
  • 2.5 tbsp instant espresso coffee powder
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 6 tbsp Kahlua
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 egg yolks room temperature
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 7 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 3 oz mascarpone cheese
  • cocoa powder

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare a 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper and greased sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add egg, vanilla, milk, and water. Mix well.
  4. Mix in espresso powder and sugar in hot water, add Kahlua.
  5. Combine cream cheese, mascarpone, sugar, and flour until smooth.
  6. Add sour cream, vanilla, eggs, and yolks; mix until smooth.
  7. Bake cake layer for 13-15 minutes, then cool.
  8. Dip ladyfingers in espresso mixture, layer over cake, and top with remaining filling.
  9. Wrap in aluminum foil, place in water bath, and bake at 300°F for about 1 hour 15 minutes.
  10. Cool, refrigerate for at least 6 hours, then decorate with cocoa powder.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for best flavor. Serve chilled.
