  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.75 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 0.333 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, and salt in a large bowl and mix well.
  3. Form mixture into 15 evenly shaped meatballs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. While meatballs are baking, prepare sauce by whisking together sugar, water, ketchup, vinegar, and soy sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer and stir for 5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Mix cornstarch with a small amount of water to create a slurry, then add to the sauce to thicken further.
  7. Toss the baked meatballs with the sauce until evenly coated.
  8. Serve warm garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
