Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.25 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 2.25 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt; mix just until combined, about 1 minute.
  3. Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks until evenly distributed.
  4. Use a 2-inch cookie scoop to form heaping mounds on a plate, flatten slightly, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes until edges are set and tops are glossy. Do not overbake.
  7. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or M&M's along with the chocolate chips.
