  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a loaf pan; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine dates, figs, butter, and baking soda; pour boiling water and stir. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Add sugar, walnuts, and eggs to the mixture; mix well.
  5. In separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture; stir until just combined.
  7. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice and serve.
