Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with olive oil over medium heat. Sear the chicken for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt remaining butter. Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
- Add sliced mushrooms and dried thyme; cook for 4-5 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
- Whisk in chicken broth and whipping cream; cook until sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes. Return chicken to skillet and coat with sauce.
- Transfer everything to a baking dish. Layer Muenster cheese slices over the chicken and sauce.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot with your favorite side.
